Diversity

The diversity event I attended was Dia de Los Muertos which means Day of the Dead.  Dia de Los Muertos is celebrated by Mexicans and Mexican Americans on November 1st and 2nd.  The celebration is in memory of the loved ones they have lost.  They all gather and pray for those whom have passed away.  During these days house and gathering will have a decorated alter or platform that displays remembrances of those they lost.  Then, individuals will place a flower on the table and share who the flower is for and why.

So for my event a group of us gathered in a very colorful and elegantly decorated room.  We were explained the concepts and ways of Dia de Los Muertos.  Later on we had performances of song and dance that are common and done during Dia de Los Muertos.  It was very fun to learn about this event in more detail.  I have always heard about it, but have never known the details and reasoning for it. Overall, I am glad I attend this event and that I know have a good understanding for Dia de Los Muertos.

Twitter

Oh Twitter how so I did not like you!  At this day and age I have no use for you at all.  However, I do understand your concept.  You help people get connected to one another and that I do understand.  If I ever needed to contact an employee overseas, or anyone for that matter I could.  When it comes to business I understand, but I am not to that age or time in which I need to do that.  Many people use Twitter constantly around the world and love it.  I hear on the news and the radio commentators and spokesman quoting people on Twitter, which I think is funny sometimes, but overall just ridiculous.  I do not need or do I think other people need to know what other people are doing or saying on Twitter.  This form of communication confuses me.

Overall, using Twitter did not float my boat.  I constantly had to remind myself to do it.  Mainly because I did not want to do it and I do not feel the need to tell and show others what I am doing or feeling.  Twitter is very similar to Facebook in my opinion, except Twitter is  only text oriented.  I do have a Facebook account and use it often.  However, I use it mainly for the purpose of keeping contact with people I know and meet.  I am sure that the reason I dislike Twitter so much is because I do not use Facebook to post about myself.  I rarely ever update my status. I did complete this assignment and learn there is a use for Twitter as I stated above.  Now, I am very happy this assignment is over and that I can now continue my life and story, Twitter free!
